WILDATER WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP – TREIGNAC 2022

22 years later, the Wildwater community returned to Treignac – the first ever Downriver World Championship venue –, to find the best in the classic and in the sprint race.

Nejc Znidarcic may not be the easiest name to pronounce, but only for those not familiar with Wildwater. The slovenian paddler is, indisputably, the biggest name of the sport. In Treignac, he won his sixth individual sprint world title and has been unbeatable for the last four World Championships. It seems that no matter how close the finish time is, it's always him claiming the gold. 0,03 of a second was enought to beat Maxence Barouh, who would very much enjoy a home victory and ended up with two individual silvers, one also in the classic race. The bronze medalist, Vojtech Matejicek, was just 0,06 behind Max. That's how close this sport is. In the end, we are very proud to have three Jantex paddlers in the top three of the Men's sprint race.

It's very well known that Manon Hostens loves Wildwater, and that once in a while she takes a break from the flatwater sprint to ride the moving waters of Downriver. She was flawless in Treignac: four races, four golds. She used the knowledge of the local waters to make the classic descent 25 seconds faster than Mathilde Rosa, silver, and 27 seconds faster than Claire Bren, bronze. She also dominated the sprint race winning her second individual world title. Mathilde Rosa was third this time.

France dominated the team races: Men and Women K1 Classic and Women K1 Sprint. The Men's Sprint would show Czech Republic as the fastest team.
